Niton bottle depot recognized for outstanding efforts

by Mikaela Kuefler

The Alberta Bottle Depot Association presented
Niton Bottle Depot owner Tom Bauman with an
applaud award and a banner after being
recognized for their outstanding efforts in the
community on March 28.
"It was great and it was an honor," said
Bauman.
The banner was created after Michelle Mosher
completed an applaud card stating, "I can come
in with a truck load of unsorted bottles and they
have a smile on their face saying, no problem we
got this....love this place!"
Her card was drawn for one of three areas:
rural, urban, and metro, competing with 217
depots in the province. She won a $50 gift
certificate to a restaurant of her choice and $50
to a movie.
"I really like the depot. They're always nice
when I go there. It was fun getting together with
them too," said Mosher.
A luncheon with subway sandwiches was
served at the depot for anyone attending.
Present on behalf of the MLA for Whitecourt to
Ste. Anne Oneil Carlier was Heather Sobey to
present Bauman with a congratulatory scroll for
his contribution to the community.
A certificate of recognition from the Mayor of
Yellowhead County Gerald Soroka was also
presented.
"The association started this program a couple
of years ago so a customer can make positive
comments about the depot they use. Some depots Michelle Mosher, representative for Minister Oneil Heather Sobey, Thomas Bauman, and his
