by Deanna Mitchener

McMan's Supported Community Access
Network (SCAN) program held a garage sale in
front of their new office on July 27. This was the
final event raising money for their upcoming
overnight trip to the Calgary Zoo.
Team Leader for the SCAN program, Patty
Anderson, says, "We have been working very
hard for over a year with different fund raising
events throughout the community to pay off our
Calgary Zoo trip that will be taking place on
August 11. The group going will be spending the
night with the penguins at the Zoo. We have 13
individuals along with six or seven staff going on
the trip."
"When I heard about the sleep-over program at
the Calgary Zoo I contacted them to check it all
out. They supply cots to sleep on, a snack in the
evening, and then a full pancake breakfast in the
morning along with a day pass for the Zoo," said
Anderson.
"I think we are going to have a really good time,
and everyone seems very excited about renting a
bus and going on this adventure," said Anderson.
Since opening its first program back in 1975,
McMan Youth Family and Community Services
Association has grown and evolved into a
dynamic not-for-profit social service agency that
provides a comprehensive range of programs.
