Edson Special Needs Group hosts Sensitive Santa

by Mikaela Kuefler

The Edson Special Needs Group hosted their
fifth annual Sensitive Santa at the Boys and
Girls Club on December 10.
Sensitive Santa is an event for children with
special needs who may have sensory issues,
cognitive delays, or medical issues who aren't
comfortable going to a larger Santa event.
“Families seem to really enjoy the party. For
some of the kids, it's the only way they'll see
Santa because they can't handle going to big
group settings. For a lot of kids, this is the
only opportunity for them to actually come
and experience Santa. It's as important to the
families as it is to the kids,” said organizer
Crystal Metzger.
The event hosted 18 families and 23
children and had various volunteers helping
with photography, face painting, and glitter
tattoos.
Families could take part in crafts and cookie
decorating while they were waiting to visit
with Santa.
Since the space was donated by the Boys
and Girls Club, children could also enjoy the Reilly Bergquist and Jesse Bergquist enjoy decorating cookies during Sensitive Santa at the Boys
