Planets and aliens at Pine Grove’s Sky Science

by Jocelyn Pettitt

Grade 6 Pine Grove students in Mr. William's Science class
are embarking on a creative project that is out of this world.
Sky Science is part of the grade 6 curriculum, and this
year, students are choosing a planet within our solar system
to research and then create an alien that would be from that
planet.
Students have to research such characteristics as how far
from the sun, how many moons, weather, how long the days
are and how long is a year on the planet they have chosen.
Students were given a list of reliable websites they could
use to research and they will have to cite their information
used.
Once their creations are complete, they will make a
passport for their alien to visit the class and talk about the
planet they are from.
Addison Kreuh, a grade 6 student participating in this
project said “It's really fun because it teaches you about
planets and makes you learn a lot and we get to present it
with a fun fact sheet and present our alien to the class.” Grade 6 Pine Grove students Jenny Neil, Riley Robinson, Tavian Johnson, and Erika
Boulianne do some planet research for their Sky Science curriculum.
