Therapeutic Recreation month, so to celebrate we
are having an afternoon where we can highlight

The Weekly Anchor support the rehabilitation process and promote
wellness throughout life.
It has been documented that people involved in
therapeutic recreation in a clinical setting heal
faster, adjust better, have improved motor and
cognitive function, and reintegrate into the
community more readily.
Some physical benefits from therapeutic
recreation include improving the general physical
and perceptual motor function of individuals, and
improve endurance and strength.
Social benefits increased self confidence, and
personal recreation interests can help support
community integration.
Cognitive benefits from therapeutic recreation
include helping maintain or improve memory,
maintain or improving orientation, and can
enhance new learning opportunities.
Recreation therapy not only benefits the person
but can also enhance family relationships and help
family members develop lifelong skills. It can
provide respite for caregivers, facilitate positive
visits, and the development of social support.
