RESIDENTIAL HARD SURFACING STANDARDS


Hard surfacing is required if you are building a garage with driveway access onto a paved road OR if your development is more
that 25% of the existing parcel coverage.
This being said, if anyone has built a structure larger than 10' x 10' (for example: shed, green house, gazebo), patio (larger than

15m ) or any size deck without getting the proper development permits, NOW is the time to do so.
You can apply for a Development Permit at the Town Office and will only be required to pay the regular permit fee with no
penalty. This will ensure that when you decide to sell your home, there will no delay due to unpermitted structures.
Please Note: For larger structures, a $5,000 security is required as a condition of your permit to ensure all conditions of your
permit are met. Once ALL the conditions are met the security will be refunded to the current property owner.
