Fun with Sushi at Peers Multi-Plex Mayerthorpe, Entwistle

by Miranda L'Hirondelle
For the first time Yellowhead
County organized a Sushi
Workshop with Lara Felsing at
the Peers Multi-Plex on October
6.
13 people signed up for the
workshop to enjoy a fun night
that involved teamwork. “It
almost reached maximum
occupancy so that's fantastic,”
said Lara.
They made three types of rolls
which included Maki rolls, Futo
Maki rolls, and California rolls.
They also made steamed
Edamame beans lightly
sprinkled with sea salt to go
with the sushi.
Everyone helped with the
prepping of the ingredients then
made their own rolls the way
they liked. “It was a really fun
and friendly group and this is
such a great complex to host
this,” said Felsing.
You could fill your sushi with
an assortment of ingredients like
cucumber, mango, crab and
other vegetables and types of
meat. Wasabi, soy sauce and a
peanut sauce were available for
everyone to have with the sushi.
At the end of the workshop
everyone cleaned up the kitchen
and got to take their sushi home
with their brand new sushi
rollers that they used and
received during the workshop.
“It's really fantastic to see all
our communities from
Marlboro, Edson, and Peers all
very engaged with their
communities offering really,
really fun things to do,” said
Felsing.
If you would like to
experience one of these
workshops held by Yellowhead
County the next workshop will
be 'Watercolour Christmas
Cards' on November 18, 6-8pm.
