Grand Opening of Evansburg Emergency Services building

by Dana McArthur

Cory Chegwyn the Fire Chief for Yellowhead
County welcomed everyone to the grand opening
of the new Evansburg Emergency Services
building, named Station 10. Over 120 community
members, families and children attended the event
held on October 5.
"Yellowhead County is excited to open this new
building and share it with the community," said
Chegwyn. The Yellowhead County Mayor Gerald
Soroka was then introduced.
"It's great everyone came out tonight to see the
opening of our new Hall. I think once you start the
tour you'll see what great amenities we have built
into it," said Mayor Soroka.
"One of the things people ask me is —when did
the concept of this new fire hall begin? We actually
started thinking of the idea back in 2007. So, it was
10 years in the design and concept, and then
figuring out when was the best time to build it. And
after 10 years, this is what we got —I think we
should be proud of it," said Mayor Soroka.
"Back in 2007 we didn't have the concept of
creating a regional fire service centre, which shows
how much we have progressed in the last 10 years. Yellowhead County Mayor Gerald Soroka along with Division #1 (Evansburg and area) councillor
